Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 2 Reserva Cosecha 2012 is an ultra-high-end, ultra-rare Cuban cigar taking the well-known Epicure No. 2 to new levels. Released in 2016 as part of Habanos S.A.’s high-end Reserva line of rare cigars, the limited-production cigar is comprised of tobaccos grown in 2012, all aged for at least three years before rolling, providing sublime harmony and finesse.
This 124mm (4.9 inch) Robusto ring gauge 50 gives a silky smooth draw and cool burn. The taste is rich but not strong: creamy cedar, toasted almond, honey-glazed pastry, floral and sweet, and a sophisticated white pepper finish. Long aging emphasizes the flavors without overwhelming them to produce a sophisticated smoke of medium strength and a clean, lengthy finish.
Encased in a black lacquered box of 20 cigars, the cigar itself features the traditional “Reserva” black and silver band to emphasize the extremity of the rarity. Sold only in 5,000 boxes worldwide, the Epicure No. 2 Reserva Cosecha 2012 is as much a treat for the aficionado as it is a desirable find for any serious collector’s humidor.
